How can I invest in what Sputter Box is creating?
Support the debut album
"Snapshots and Serenades" is Sputter Box's highly-anticipated debut album composed almost entirely of pieces commissioned by our ensemble. This album showcases our mission to expand and promote the repertoire for our unique instrumentation and represents the wide range of musical possibilities for our clarinet/bass clarinet, soprano voice, and percussion trio. “Snapshots and Serenades” will be the first album entirely composed of works for this instrumentation.
This album will feature the following works: "Snapshot of the Red Eclipse'' by Allison McIntosh, "Séance Serenade" by Brendan Sweeney, "Stillness to....." by Daijana Wallace, "Doublespeak" by Bethany Younge, “Exchanges” by Martha Callison Horst, and “vita vana” by Filippo Scaramucci.
This album was recorded, edited, mixed, and mastered by GRAMMY award-winning audio engineer, Mike Tierney, and will be released on New Focus Recordings.
All proceeds from this campaign support the costs of recording, post-production, and releasing this album. Any donations above our campaign goal will directly pay the performing artists on this album.

What are these donations going to?
Working in the arts means we rely on the investments from our audience members to carry out our mission. All of the funds raised for our concert seasons go directly towards commissioning composers and artists to create new works, production costs to premiere these works and give multiple performances to previously-commissioned works, and travel costs to bring our repertoire to new places. In the past, we have used funds to commission composers and artists including Daijana Wallace, Kakia Gkoudina, John Ling, Allison McIntosh, Mattia Maurée, & Pampi. These funds have also allowed us to play at venues in New York City, including Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Shapeshifter Lab, Scholes Street Studio, Astoria Art House, and Areté. We have been able to travel to residencies and festivals such as the University of Florida, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Minnesota Fringe Festival, and Avaloch Farm Music Institute. Funds for our upcoming season will help us increase our commissioning fees for composers, expand our audience and touring schedule, provide higher quality live streams of our concerts, and keep our ticket prices low so our local concerts can remain accessible to New Yorkers.
