Sputter Box is finishing up their fifth season together, which calls for a celebration!
Join Kathryn, Alina, and Peter for a night of music, socializing, refreshments, and celebration on
April 21, 2023 at 7PM at MISE-EN_PLACE in Brooklyn, NY.
The evening’s program includes many of the 54 works that Sputter Box has commissioned over the past 5 years, including their latest mixed media commission by Daijana Wallace and Kakia Gkoudina.

During the gala, Sputter Box will launch their latests merchandise, including the long-awaited Sputter Socks and limited-edition Sputter Beanies. Admission to the event includes a raffle ticket for a Sputter Beanie.
The raffle winner will be announced during the gala.

Peter had a lot of questions about the gala, so we made a video to answer all of them!

I can’t attend the gala, but I would still like to support Sputter box’s upcoming season. is there a way i can still support?

Yes! We will miss you at the gala, but we appreciate your support! If you follow the ticket link and scroll all the way down to the bottom, there is an option that says, “I just want to donate!” Put a 1 in this ticket option (it is $0), and press next. After you input your information, there will be a page where you can specify a donation amount.

If you are not in a place to monetarily support Sputter Box, a like, follow, and share on social media can go a long way! Tell someone in your community about what we’re up to and your favorite Sputter Box piece!

I see a lot of different ticket prices. What is included with each one?

Where is the money going?

Proceeds from this event will support Sputter Box’s 2023-2024 season, including commissions, unique concert experiences, and touring expenses. All of the funds raised for our concert seasons go directly towards commissioning composers and artists to create new works, production costs to premiere these works and give multiple performances to previously-commissioned works, and travel costs to bring our repertoire to new places. In the past, we have used funds to commission composers and artists including Daijana Wallace, Kakia Gkoudina, John Ling, Allison McIntosh, Mattia Maurée, & Pampi. These funds have also allowed us to play at venues in New York City, including Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Shapeshifter Lab, Scholes Street Studio, Astoria Art House, and Areté. We have been able to travel to residencies and festivals such as the University of Florida, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, Minnesota Fringe Festival, and Avaloch Farm Music Institute. Funds for our upcoming season will help us increase our commissioning fees for composers, expand our audience and touring schedule, and keep our ticket prices low so our local concerts can remain accessible to New Yorkers.

A gala? Isn’t that fancy? What should I wear!?

Dressing up is encouraged, but not required! Make a night of it! We will be wearing gowns and a suit, but wear whatever makes you comfortable!
